Lora Pennington

tsi sq̓ʷal?alq̓ʷal

Lora Pennington is a respected cultural teacher, an elder of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe in the Salish Sea region bridging northwestern USA and southwestern Canada, and a teacher of Lushootseed, the language of Chief Seattle (Si?al).  A great-niece and cultural inheritor of the work of Vi Hilbert, she is a wise bridge between the cultures of her Scottish father and Upper Skagit mother, and a soulful and mindful interpreter of the wisdom of seven generations: planning forward, and learning from the past.
