Fern DeFay

If a modern fairy tale was crafted to describe a fairy-human changelings incarnation story it would resemble the tale of Fern DeFay’s entrance into the Human Realms: ☆her mother Lady Cyn DeFay, is a fairy-human changeling, natural mystic and healer from birth who has spent her life as a self-cultivated priestess, magical teacher & herbalist ☆Emerging at sunrise Fern was born at Rose Door of Dawn ☆in the month of Roses and Hawthorne ☆in the City of Roses ☆during the peak of Rose Festival. Quite the entrance THEY chose to send in a wee fairy-human changeling to become a World Walker and Bringer of the Dawn as Priestess of Love and Lore~ later to be known as the IrReverend Miss Lady Fern DeFay ~ High Priestess of the Funk.

After high school graduation with honors, Fern enrolled directly in higher education within both secular academia and Pagan mystery school. At university, Fern excelled in social sciences including ancient world history, cultural anthropology and world religions. Beginning at Portland State University and completing at The Evergreen State College, Fern received her BA in Cultural Studies with an emphasis on Irish Studies. Simultaneously, she studied at several Pagan Mystery Schools including The Sacred Grove of Oak, Rowan and Yew and The Cluan Feart Women’s Mysteries. For six years, Fern immersed herself in full-time rigorous coursework, studies and practices of ritual composition, Pagan history, world mythology, tree lore, herb crafting and love magic. While double enrolled in secular and magical colleges, Fern continued to aid her elders in facilitating rituals for both family and public Pagan seasonal holiday rites. Fern received her first ordination into Priestesshood at age 19, founded her own tradition and church at 22, and became a legally ordained Pagan Minister by 24.

Over the last 25 years, Fern has been devoted to her life purpose as an Interdimensional Diplomat. Fern is known in her hometown of Portland and across Cascadia for facilitating festivals, events, seasonal holidays, weddings, rites of passage, and Funk empowerments. Regionally acclaimed for her community service as “Tea Fairy” hostess of lavish tea parties feasts and community tea houses. Beyond her origins in her Pagan community gatherings, she has branched out to lecture on Celtic Fairy & Tree Lore and led rituals at the Fairy Human Relations Congress, Singing Alive, Tree of Life Festival and Aerious~Living Well Nature Spirit Sanctuary. Fern loves to teach about her passions with liveliness and wonder just as she flavors her rituals with mirth and reverence.

Zane was born in the shadow of mighty mountains and under auspicious stars that foretold ancestors would remark on a youngling’s slinky fingerlings clearly made for musical string things and a knack (which he would stubbornly not admit to himself for so very many moons) for
multifarious and peculiar roads to creative realisation. The Indwelling Spirit of the World once advised him: “Music is ineffable; breathe, tense and then release, because art is sonic symphonic tonic to tune our bodies, minds, and souls.” “I appreciate that,” said Zane.
Zane is a multi-instrumentalist formally trained in music from multiple cultural perspectives. He integrates and augments his musical mythopoetic musings with original paintings and drawings of an otherworldly nature. He has performed locally and internationally and studied with master
musicians at home and abroad. Drawn at a young age to commune with nature through music, Zane has developed a consuming interest in the esoteric aspects of music and the arts as transcendent and immanent aspects of life. The “Fayerie twang” tends to infest all of his artistic output these days. He currently resides in the drive time of the mist-lined forests of Cascadia with his partner Fern DeFay and as many books, instruments, and art supplies as possible. His website is at www.zanelazos.net

Fern is leading the Twilight Rite on Friday evening and facilitating the all night ceremony on Saturday night, with assistance from Zane
